Graduate student activities: Josh Franco’s “Marfita” nominated for Austin Critic’s Table Award

Congratulations to doctoral student Josh Franco, whose work MARFITA has been nominated for an Austin Critic’s Table Award! Developed in collaboration with Alison Kuo and Joshua Saunders, MARFITA (the Spanish diminution of “Marfa”) explores the intersection of two phenomena–the presence of Donald Judd’s work at the Chinati Foundation and the 1994 appearance of the Virgin Mary to Marfa resident Hector Sanchez–to investigate the idea of “pilgrimage.”
